Dealer verification

Verified dealers, checked by our team

Before a dealer gets the Verified dealer badge, the Dealrs team checks who they are and that their shop is real. Here's what the badge tells buyers, what it doesn't, and how dealers get it.

  • Identity and store checks
  • In-person visits by field agents
  • Every listing and request reviewed

What the verified badge means, and what it doesn't

The badge tells you who you're dealing with. It doesn't replace your own checks on the goods.

The badge means

Verified dealer
  • A real person runs the accountThe dealer sent a photo of their shop front and a selfie, and a person on the Dealrs team checked them.
  • The shop is real, at its addressThe Dealrs team has verified at least one of the dealer's stores. Some stores are also visited in person by a Dealrs field agent.
  • You know where to find themThe store address is on the dealer's Dealrs profile, so you can meet at the shop that was checked.

It doesn't mean

  • Dealrs hasn't inspected the goodsVerification is about who the dealer is. It isn't a check or a warranty on the phone or laptop you buy.
  • Dealrs doesn't guarantee the dealPrice, condition, payment and delivery are agreed between you and the dealer.
  • Dealrs doesn't hold your money or deliverThere's no escrow. You pay the dealer directly, and pick-up or delivery is arranged between you.

The badge shows on the dealer's store profile and their listings. Inspect before you pay, every time.

Sometimes

An in-person visit from a field agent

A Dealrs field agent may visit your shop for an in-person KYC check. It's the one check that can't be done from a phone. During the visit they record:

  • A photo of the shop front
  • A photo of the dealer inside the shop
  • The building name and shop number
  • That the dealer's name matches the account
  • Sometimes a few seconds of video

The Dealrs team then reviews what the agent recorded before verifying the store. We work in Computer Village, Alaba International Market and Saka Tinubu.

While you wait

  • Posting listings and buy requests, and the Dealer Hub, open once you're approved. Until then you can finish setting up your store in the app.
  • Your photos can't be changed while they're in review.
  • We notify you in the app when the review is done.

How we review

People check every submission and every post

Verification photos and every listing and buy request go to a person on the Dealrs team before anything changes on the marketplace.

Identity and store review

What the verification team looks at.

  • The shop photo shows a real shop front, with its sign
  • The selfie is a clear photo of the person on the account
  • The name, business name, market and store address on the account
  • The outcome: approved with a store verified, or not approved with a written reason

Listing and request review

Before a post goes live.

  • The photos show the actual item being sold
  • It's in the right category, with the specs filled in
  • Price, quantity and condition make sense together
  • Buy requests describe a real need: item, quantity, condition, urgency and price
  • Nothing that breaks our rules

If a post isn't approved, the dealer can fix it and send it again. Product requests sent on this website are reviewed by our team too.

  • Stored privately

Verification photos are kept private. Only the Dealrs team and you, in your own account, can open them.

  • Never on your profile

Your shop photo and selfie are never shown on your listings or your store profile.

  • A reason if it's a no

If a submission isn't approved, the app shows the reason, and you can take new photos and resubmit.

Most deals go smoothly. These habits protect you when one doesn't, whether you're buying one phone or fifty. Tick them off at the shop.

Get verified the first time

The same guidance the app gives you, in one place. Clear photos and a correct address are what the team needs.

  • Shoot the shop front from outside

Use the back camera and get the whole front of the shop and its sign in the photo, clearly.

  • Face the light for your selfie

Use the front camera, face the light and take off sunglasses, so your face is easy to see.

  • Get your store address right

Add the market and the exact address of your shop. The shop photo should be of the shop at that address.

  • Sign up in your real name

If a field agent visits, they confirm the person in the shop matches the name on your account.

Not approved?

You'll see why in the app. Take new photos and tap Resubmit identity, or Resubmit store verification for a store. Unsure what to change? Contact us below.

More than one shop?

Add each one in My stores and verify it with its own shop photo and selfie. How many stores you can add depends on your plan.

Verification questions

The badge, answered

More answers on the FAQ page.

Report a dealer or a post

Tell us the dealer or store name, the listing or request, and what happened. We review every report. We can't recover money paid to a dealer, but we can act on the account and its posts.

Are the dealers on Dealrs verified?

Dealers verify their identity with a shop-front photo and a selfie, and the Dealrs team verifies their store, sometimes with an in-person visit from a Dealrs field agent. Dealers with a verified store show a Verified dealer badge. Only approved dealers can post listings and buy requests or use the Dealer Hub, and we also review every listing and buy request before it goes live.

How do I get the verified badge?

Add your store in the Dealrs app, then verify your identity with a photo of your shop front and a selfie. The Dealrs team reviews them and verifies your store, and a Dealrs field agent may visit your shop for an in-person KYC check. Once your store is verified, the Verified dealer badge shows on your store profile and your listings.

Can I post before I'm verified?

No. You can sign up and set up your store in the Dealrs app, but posting listings and buy requests, and the Dealer Hub, open once your identity verification is approved. We notify you in the app when it's done.

Does the badge mean Dealrs guarantees the dealer?

No. The badge means we've checked who the dealer is and that their shop is real. It doesn't guarantee a product or a deal, and Dealrs doesn't hold payments. Inspect goods before you pay and keep your receipts.

Who sees my verification photos?

Only the Dealrs verification team, and you in your own account. Your shop-front photo and selfie are stored privately and are never shown on your listings or your store profile. Buyers see your store name, market and address, and the badge once your store is verified.

What if my verification isn't approved?

The app shows the reason our team gave. Take new photos and resubmit from the same screen. We notify you when your submission has been reviewed. If you're unsure what to change, contact us.

How do I report a dealer, listing or request?

Contact us at hello@dealrs.io, call +234 706 754 2573 or send a WhatsApp message to the same number. Tell us the dealer or store name, the listing or request, and what happened. We review every report.
